先月本校に短期留学した生徒と先生からお礼のご挨拶が届いてますのでご紹介します。

Experiencing the Salesian Education in Japan

This was my second trip to Japan, a country that captivated my heart during my first visit. My gratitude goes out to our sisters, the Caritas Sisters of Jesus from Japan, who are managing Caritas Don Bosco School in the Philippines for this opportunity. And of course, to the people who took good care of us during our 16-day stay namely the Salesians, faculty, staff, students and the Parents Teachers Association of Salesio Gakuin High School, our brother school in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan led by the school principal Fr. Daniel Torigoe, SDB, and Mr. Kano, our school’s main contact person for the program. I was both feeling excited and nervous during this trip. Excited, for I will be able to explore another place in this country close to my heart and at the same time be able to explore another Salesian school. Nervous, for I am not knowledgeable in Nihon-go since all of us will be staying with our respective host families.

I had the chance to stay with our CDBS alumnus who is currently working in the Nakayama area, a beautiful place with scenic views. In school, I have continuously been impressed by the discipline exhibited by the students during their club practices and sports fest preparations. I am fascinated by the high-technology school facilities increasing efficiency and convenience. The hospitality of the people I have encountered is very heart warming. I understand better the country’s culture and practices. Upon realizing our journey was about to end, it made our hearts cry. The experiences we’ve had in this country will forever be engraved in our hearts. Given another chance, I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes again. The experience contributed to my personal development helping me become a better version of myself. I am hoping that someday, we’ll be able to meet again the friends and acquaintances we’ve met in this adventure.

【要旨】
私の心を魅了するこの国日本へは2回目になります。期間中お世話になりましたサレジオ学院の教職員、生徒、保護者会の皆様に御礼申し上げます。今回初めて訪れる場所や同じサレジオの学校を拝見することに期待が膨らむと同時に、日本語もままならないまま私たちがそれぞれ別の家庭に滞在することに多少の不安もありました。

私はカリタス・ドンボスコ校の卒業生の家に滞在しておりました。サレジオ学院では部活動や体育祭準備の際の生徒の皆さんの規律正しい行動がとても印象的でした。また、学校の恵まれた施設にも魅了されました。滞在中皆様から頂いたおもてなしは心温まるものでした。日本の文化や慣習もさらに学ぶことができました。この滞在が終わるにあたり、とても寂しく思います。もしまた機会があれば、是非また訪れたいと思っております。この滞在でまた見聞を広めることができました。また皆様とお会いすることができる日を楽しみにしております。
