昨日からサレジオ会東アジアオセアニア地区顧問のジョゼフ・フック神父様がサレジオ学院を訪問され、全校生徒にメッセージが伝えられました。

 

ジョゼフ神父様はベトナム出身のサレジオ会の神父様でこれまでベトナムやフィリピンの神学校で神学を教えていらっしゃいましたが、この度サレジオ会最高評議会のメンバーとして東アジアオセアニア地区の地区顧問に選ばれました。

 

ジョゼフ神父様は今回、広く日本の各サレジオの事業所を視察されます。地区顧問とは総長フェルナンデス神父様と私たちサレジオに関わる全ての人をつなげる役割を持っており、総長の代理者としての位置付けを持っています。

 

以下、ジョゼフ神父様からのメッセージ和文・英文でご紹介します。

サレジオ学院の生徒の皆さん。

 

今朝は、皆さんが今日の授業を始めるにあたり、ご挨拶できることを大変嬉しく思います。

 

昨日、鳥越神父様が学校を案内してくださいました。この学校で提供されているプログラムやカリキュラムを紹介してくださいました。私は、あなた方が家族、政府、全スタッフ、サレジオ会の神父、教師、教師以外のサポートスタッフに支えられていることは本当に幸運なことだと言わざるを得ません。彼らはあなた方の将来をとても気にかけています。彼らはあなたたち全員、この学校に通うすべての生徒が勉強で成功し、良い大学に入り、その後の人生を成功させることを望んでいるのです。

 

世界の多くの若者は、あなた方のような機会に恵まれていません。多くの村や島では、子供たちが通う学校がありません。そして、彼らの国にさえ、良い建物、良い教室のある学校がありますが、彼らを教える良い教師がいません。また、国には良い学校がたくさんあり、良い教師もいますが、少年少女は学校に行く余裕がありません。親が学費を払い、本やノートを買う十分なお金がないからです。そして、親がそれらを買う余裕があっても、彼らも学校に行くことができないのです。なぜ？と聞かれるかもしれませんね。彼らの国は戦争中なのでしょうか？多くの派閥が互いに争っています。何千、何十万人もの人々が、兵士が学校を攻撃しないことを願いながら、学校に避難しなければならないのです。この機会に、高い責任感を持って、この機会を利用してください。

 

2. 学校は、皆さんが勉強で成功し、良い大学に入れるように準備していますが、皆さんのほとんどがよく勉強しているのがわかります。おめでとうございます。しかし、私はヨーロッパ、アメリカ、アジア、オセアニアの多くの国々を旅してきましたので、私の人生観を皆さんにお伝えしなければなりません。私は、成功と幸福の間の違い、大きな違いを目の当たりにしています。多くの人は人生において非常に成功することができます、例えば、良い大学に入り、その後、良い会社に入り、良い給料をもらって生活することができます。

 

世界中にある3,000校以上のサレジオの学校は生徒たちに、人生で成功するためだけでなく、人生において、一生幸せになるための準備をさせています。この幸せは、あらゆる困難、あらゆる不幸、あらゆる事故を克服する助けとなります。それは、あなたがいる若い時代から高齢になるまで、そしてこの世からあの世に旅立つときでさえも、あなたの一生と共にあります。

 

サレジオ学院中学・高校の優秀な生徒である皆さんが、一日も早くその幸せを手に入れることができるよう、人生の成功のための準備とともに、これからもサレジオ会員にお願いします。

Dear Students of the Salesian High School of Gakuin,

 

I am very happy to address you this morning as you are beginning your class of the day.

 

Yesterday, Fr. Torigoe gave me a tour of your school. He presented me the program and curriculum offered to you in this school. I have to say that you are really fortunate to have the support of your family, the government and the whole staff, the Salesian Fathers, the teachers, non-teaching supporting staff. They are caring very much for your future. They want all of you, every student who goes to this school to be successful in your studies, to get into good university which opens a successful life afterwards.

 

Many young people in the world do not have this opportunity like you. In many villages, islands, the children do not have school to go. And even their country have schools, good building, good classrooms, but they do not have good teachers to teach them. And even the country have many good schools, good teachers, but the boys and girls cannot afford to go to school because their parents have not sufficient money to pay for their school tuition, to buy books and notebooks for them. And even their parents can afford them, they cannot go to school, either. Why? You may ask me? Their countries are being in the war? Many factions fight against one another. Thousands, hundreds of thousand people have to take refuge in the schools, hoping that the soldiers will not attack the schools. Here, you have the opportunity, please use this with high sense of responsibility.

 

2. As the school prepares you to succeed in studies and in getting into good universities, I can see that most of you are studying well. Congratulations! However, as I travel around many countries, Europe, America, many countries in Asia and Oceania, I have to share with you my understanding of life. I can see the difference, the great difference between success and happiness. Many people can be very successful in life, for example, they can get into good universities, then, afterwards, they can get into good company and get good salary for their life.

The Salesian schools in all over the world, more than 3,000 of them, offer the students, or, better, prepare their students, not only to succeed in life, but also to be happy in life, for the whole life. This happiness will help you to overcome all kinds of difficulties, all misfortunes, including all accidents. It remains with you for your whole life, from the young age where you are to your elderly age, and even at your time of departure from this world to the life after world.

 

I ask the Salesians to continue to help you, the excellent students of Salesian Junior and High School of Gakuin to get that happiness as soon as possible, together with the preparation for your success in life.
